Air India on Friday said its flights to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended till April 30 amid tensions in the Middle East.
The airline operates four weekly flights between the national capital and the Israeli city.
"Air India flights to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended until 30th April 2024, in view of the emerging situation in the Middle East. We are continuously monitoring the situation," an airline spokesperson said in a statement.
The airline is offering one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges for passengers who have confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period.
On Sunday, the carrier decided to temporarily suspend its flights to Tel Aviv.
Tensions have escalated in the Middle East in the wake of attacks by Iran on Israel and the response in retaliation.
The Tata group-owned carrier had recommenced the services to the Israeli city on March 3, after nearly five months.
Air India had suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv starting from October 7, 2023, after the Hamas group's attack on the Israeli city.

The national elections in India kicked off on April 19th. There are around 96.8 crore eligible voters for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, which will be held in seven phases across various states over a period of six weeks. The polls will conclude on the 1st of June and the results will be announced on the 4th of June.&nbsp;
As the Election Commission says, it's &ldquo;a mammoth exercise in democracy which is world&rsquo;s largest electoral movement of man and material.&rdquo; To hold an election of this magnitude requires meticulous planning and of course comes at a significant cost.&nbsp;
The cost of organising the Lok Sabha elections has seen a significant increase over the years. India's first election was held in 1951-52 which spanned 68 phases was reportedly at a cost of ₹10.5 crore. However, by 2014, the cost of conducting the national elections surged to over ₹3870 crore. And the 2019 elections cost dramatically increased to a whopping ₹50,000 crore as per a report by the centre of Media Studies. And as per reports, basis their previous years trends, the 2024 elections could cost double of what the 2019 election cost, which works out to a staggering ₹1 lakh crore.&nbsp;
With almost every election, the costs have expanded along with an increase in the number of eligible voters. From 17.32 crore eligible voters in 1952 to 91.2 crore in 2019 and 96.8 crore in 2024. The election commission spent 6 paise per elector in 1951 which increased to Rs 46 in 2014.
So what are the main heads under which the Election Commission spends? From deploying resources, officials and armed personnel, setting up of polling booths, administrative costs to awareness programs and electronic voting machines, are just some of the areas where the money is spent. However, procuring EVMs forms a major part of the expenses. In Budget 2024, ₹1891 crore was allocated for EVMs with an additional ₹611 crore proposed during the Winter session.
So who bears the cost of the elections? The central government bears the cost of the national elections, similarly when state elections are conducted, it is the state government which bears the cost.&nbsp;

Fintech firm CRED has received an in-principle nod from the Reserve Bank of India for the payment aggregation (PA) business. As per NDTV Profit, CRED is mandated to submit an audit report within 6 months after which the decision on final approval will be made.
<h3>Payment aggregation business</h3>
After the final approval, the Peak-XV backed Bengaluru based startup can expand to merchant payments business too, thus joining the ranks of Razorpay and Cashfree. At present, CRED primarily runs a credit card bill payment platform for creditworthy customers.
As per The Economic Times, CCAvenue, Innoviti Payments and MSwipe are also among the payment companies which received their final PA licence recently.
<h3>PA Licence</h3>
At present the firm operates Cred Pay in partnership with other payment companies through which it offers a check out option to its users on popular ecommerce platforms. With the final PA licence, CRED will be able to settle and transfer funds by itself. The licence will also allow CRED to offer merchant payments to any online seller.
Payment Aggregators can manage funds through an escrow account and offer value-added services on top of payments.&nbsp;
On Tuesday, The Reserve Bank of India issued draft rules to regulate payment aggregators who handle physical point of sale services. These regulations include minimum net worth requirements, amendments to certain existing directions as well as a timeline for compliance. The central bank has also invited public comments and feedback on the proposed regulations by May 31.

Infosys experienced a net reduction of 5,423 employees in the January to March 2024 quarter, bringing its total workforce to 317,240 by the end of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of declining workforce numbers for the IT services giant, with a total decrease of over 29,000 employees in this period.
Similarly, Infosys' competitor Tata Consultancy Services or TCS reported a net decrease of 1,759 employees in the same quarter, resulting in a total workforce of 601,546 by the end of the 2023-24 fiscal year, the lowest in the past two years.
At a time when Infosys had implemented a campus hiring freeze, TCS boasted of being the first one to hire from institutes.

The International Monetary Fund has applauded India for maintaining fiscal discipline in an election year, saying that the Indian economy is doing well and continues to be the world's bright spot.
"At this point in time, India's economy is doing well. Growth at 6.8% is very good. Inflation's coming down. We have to make sure that inflation comes down to target and it is there on a durable basis. Macro fundamentals look pretty good," Krishna Srinivasan, Director, Asia and Pacific Department, at the IMF told PTI in an interview.
"One thing I would say is that maintaining fiscal discipline, especially in the election year, for me, has been quite a highlight because countries do embark on fiscal adventures in the election year.
"This government has maintained a discipline, I think, is very important because at the end of the day, sound macro fundamentals are the basis on which countries prosper and have durable growth. So that's very important to maintain that," Srinivasan said.
<h3>Fiscal discipline during election year</h3>
India, he said, has successfully navigated multiple shocks over the last several years. It's emerging to be one of the fastest major economies in the world. "In fact, for this year, for 2024-25, we project growth at 6.8% led by private consumption and public investment. Inflation is coming down gradually. It's now below 5%," he said.
"If you look at the macro fundamentals, they're pretty solid, despite this being an election year, the government has adhered to fiscal discipline. You look at the reserve position, it's strong. If you look at overall macro fundamentals, it's pretty good," he said, adding that risks to the economy are broadly balanced.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India's forex reserves jumped by USD 2.98 billion to a fresh peak of USD 648.562 billion for the week ended April 5. In the previous reporting week, the forex kitty had increased by USD 2.951 billion to USD 645.583 billion, which was an all-time high.
"In the short-term, an important risk is volatile commodity prices with various tensions... But going beyond the short-term, you could think in terms of weather-related shocks, fragmentation, all these are things to worry about in terms of risks to the outlook.
"Of course, there are also risks to the upside when I say private consumption could be stronger. The impact from CapEx spending in India could be stronger with more crowding in the private investment. So those are upside risks. In a nutshell, India has a sweet spot at this point in time," the IMF official said.
Srinivasan said India is among the main drivers of global growth. "This year we expect economic growth at 6.8%. That is led by private consumption and a lot of public investment... India will contribute almost 17% of global growth. So that's one reason why we think it's a bright spot," he said.
"The second driver is Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). I think this is an important moment, almost like a watershed moment. It's very fundamental because what the DPI does is it enhances productivity by fostering competition and innovation. It also furthers financial inclusion and makes the public sector that much more efficient. So this is a big thing," he said.
That's another reason why the IMF thinks India a bright spot.
"The third reason, is that India has a young and growing population. India is likely to add 15 million people to the labor force every year. There could be other factors which lead us to believe it's a bright spot. But again, when I talk about the young population and to benefit from the demographic dividend, I think a lot of reforms will be needed, which going forward over the medium-term will require a lot of reforms," he said.
For the demographic dividend to be reaped, India has to invest a lot in education and health. "I cannot emphasize this more because it's not just about the population and how to employ them proactively. You're going to have transformations like AI coming into play.
"In India's labor force, the young have to be well skilled, well equipped to deal with these transformation changes to contribute effectively to the economy. In that sense, yes, investment in education, health is very important. That's one thing in terms of reforms,&rdquo; he said.
"I would also say that making the labor market smoother, functioning well by implementing these labor reforms which have been passed recently is very important. Reducing the number of trade restrictions is important because this is, you give opportunities for people to expand the horizon beyond the domestic economy. Making the country more attractive to business investment is very important.
"Even now when you talk to investors, they talk about the red tape, the bureaucracy, how long it takes to get things done in India. I think those are things which need to be addressed effectively for India to gain from this young population and have long-term growth,&rdquo; Srinivasan said.
"For the medium-term, we have a growth rate of 6.5%, which is good. But you need more than that. And the last thing I would say is for investors to make well-informed decisions about the economy, about various issues, it'll be important to also at a fundamental level think in terms of our macroeconomic statistics, which can help people make well-informed decisions about investment, which is more durable,&rdquo; said the IMF official.&nbsp;
The Lok Sabha elections in India are conducted in 7 phases starting April 19. The last phase of voting is on June 1 and the results will be announced on June 4

Zepo right now is in talks with a private equity fund to raise a fresh round of investment, The company is expected to get a valuation of approximately $2.5 billion.
&ldquo;The companies met and Flipkart made an offer to Zepto valuing it at under $2 billion.. but the deal didn&rsquo;t go ahead. Zepto&rsquo;s decision to opt out was centred around Flipkart wanting to pick up a majority stake in the startup..,&rdquo; said one of the persons cited in the ET report.
Flipkart itself wanted a majority stake in the startup, this shows the Walmart-backed e-commerce giant is interested in being a major player in the quick commerce industry. Notably, that is an area in which the company currently lacks.
The ET report further said that Flipkart is looking to launch its quick delivery service aimed at delivering goods in less than 30 minutes. The platform is expected to come to life in June and the company is setting up dark stores right now to meet the demand.&nbsp;
Flipkart's move to acquire or hold a majority stake in the fast-growing quick commerce is largely based on its growing demand and the pressure that it is putting on E-commerce giants like Amazon, Flipkart and Messho.&nbsp;
In the past month, several brokerage reports have highlighted the growing significance of quick commerce for brands and the potential pressure it may exert on major e-commerce players. According to a recent report by UBS, quick commerce has transitioned from being a "good to have" to an "indispensable" aspect. The report predicts that this emerging sector could achieve a gross merchandise value (GMV) of approximately $34 billion by FY29, with a total addressable market (TAM) potential reaching $520 billion.

Shares in the Elon Musk-owned company slid nearly 4% in intraday trading Thursday, in what now stands as the third worst week for the stock in 2024, a year that has been dismal for Tesla investors. The Austin, Texas company's shares are down 12.4% this week and more than 39% this year.
Shares of Tesla Inc last traded at the $150 level in January 2023.
It's also been a bad year for employees. Tesla said Monday that it was cutting 10% of its staff globally, about 14,000 jobs. The next day, Tesla announced it would try to re-instate Musk's $56 billion pay package that was rejected by a Delaware judge in January, who said that the arrangement was dictated by Musk and was the product of sham negotiations with directors who were not independent of him.
At the time of the Delaware court ruling, Musk's package was worth more than $55.8 billion, but the stock slide has cut that to $44.9 billion at the close of trading on Friday, according to a company filing last week.
Tesla shares hit an all-time intraday high of $415.50 in November of 2021, adjusted for a 3-for-1 stock split that took effect in August 2022.
Tesla sales fell sharply last quarter as competition increased worldwide, electric vehicle sales growth slowed, and price cuts failed to draw more buyers. The company said it delivered 386,810 vehicles from January through March, nearly 9% below the 423,000 it sold in the same quarter of last year.
Dan Ives, an analyst with Wedbush who has been very bullish on Tesla's stock, called the first quarter sales numbers an &ldquo;unmitigated disaster".
&ldquo;For Musk, this is a fork in the road time to get Tesla through this turbulent period otherwise dark days could be ahead,&rdquo; Ives wrote this week.
Yet on Thursday, Deutsche Bank joined other industry analysts in voicing concern over Musk's big bet on autonomous vehicles as it stripped the company of its &ldquo;buy&rdquo; rating, citing Tesla's &ldquo;change of strategic priority to Robotaxi&rdquo;.
Wall Street expects that Tesla will report a decline in first quarter earnings next week and many are wondering if there's any near-term catalyst for growth that would end Tesla's stock slide. Industry analysts were expecting a new small electric vehicle for the masses that would cost around $25,000, the Model 2, but there were reports last week that Musk was scrapping that project.
Musk disputed the reports, but wrote on X, the social media platform that he owns, that Tesla would unveil a robotaxi at an event on Aug 8.
Uncertainty over the release of a cheaper vehicle from Tesla has altered the equation for analysts like Deutche Bank's Emmanuel Rosner.
Such a delay would tie Tesla's future more closely to &ldquo;cracking the code on full driverless autonomy, which represents a significant technological, regulatory and operational challenge. We view Tesla's shift as thesis-changing,&rdquo; Rosner wrote.
Since last year, Tesla has cut prices as much as $20,000 on some models as it faced increasing competition and slowing demand.

At 10am on Friday, Sensex lost 0.52% or 379 points to trade at 72,109 and the Nifty was 0.44% or 97 points lower at 21,898. The fall in shares of Infosys Ltd., Larsen &amp; Toubro Ltd., and HDFC Bank Ltd. pressured the indices further. All the Nifty IT stocks declined on Friday.
As per Fars News agency, early morning on Friday explosion was heard in Iran's Isfahan city, which is one of the launch site for the missile and drone attack on Israel by Iran. Following this the US equity futures fell in early Asian trading while the oil prices resumed a selloff and investors retreated to the dollar.
On Thursday, the markets extended losses for the fourth straight session with Sensex tanking 454.69 points or 0.62% to settle at 72,488.99 while Nifty plunged 152.05 points or 0.69% to 21,995.85.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has started an investigation on Nestl&eacute; India over the alleged use of sugar in baby food products in low-income countries, including India, reported The Economic Times. The allegation is made by a Swiss investigative agency Public Eye, which specialises in corporate wrongdoing.
<h3>Investigation on Nestl&eacute;</h3>
As per Mint, the FSSAI will analyze the findings of Public Eye's report, and present it before a scientific panel for further assessment. Public Eye, earlier this week along with International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) published the results of its investigation into various brands of infant milk and cereals sold by Nestl&eacute; across developing nations.
As per the findings, Nestl&eacute; has allegedly added sugar and honey in its two primary brands&mdash;Cerelac and Nodi which are sold in parts of Africa, Latin America and Asia. However the excess sugar is not found in the products sold in its main markets in Europe or US.
&ldquo;Almost all Cerelac infant cereals examined contain added sugar&ndash;nearly 4 gm per serving on average, equal to roughly a sugar cube&ndash; although they are targeted at babies from six months of age. The highest amount&mdash;7.3 gm per serving&mdash;was detected in a product sold in the Philippines", said Public Eye report.
<h3>Nestl&eacute;'s Response</h3>
In response to the Public Eye report, Nestl&eacute; in its statement has refuted the claims and assured that Products manufactured in India are in "full and strict compliance" with global food standards, and local specifications pertaining to the requirements of all nutrients, including added sugars.
&ldquo;We would like to assure that our infant cereal products are manufactured to ensure the appropriate delivery of nutritional requirements, such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, iron, etc., for early childhood. We never compromise and will never compromise on the nutritional quality of our products," a company spokesperson said in a statement.
&ldquo;We constantly leverage our extensive global research and development network to enhance the nutritional profile of our products. Compliance is an essential characteristic of Nestl&eacute; India, and we will never compromise on that."
The Swiss food company further added that in India the products are manufactured in full and strict compliance with CODEX standards (a commission established by WHO and FAO).
<h3>Nestl&eacute; Food Products</h3>
As per Nestl&eacute; India, the company has reduced added sugars by up to 30%, across its infant cereal range, depending on the variant in the past five years.&nbsp;
&nbsp;&ldquo;We regularly review our portfolio and continue to innovate and reformulate our products to further reduce the level of added sugars, without compromising on nutrition, quality, safety, and taste", the firm said
However, in Europe, and other developed markets, the company does not add any sugar to its infant nutrition products.

Musk was expected to announce investment plans in India after the government announced a new electric vehicle policy allowing import duty concessions.

Tesla chief Elon Musk has postponed his trip to India where he was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year," Musk said on X.
Reuters said that it could not immediately determine why Musk postponed the trip and did not receive a response from PM Modi's office.
This comes days after Musk himself said he is looking forward to meeting Modi.

Gold and silver prices soared to fresh record high levels on Friday with the precious metal breaching Rs 74,000 per 10 grams mark here on bullish global trends.
According to HDFC Securities, gold price jumped Rs 400 to hit its lifetime high of Rs 74,100 per 10 grams in Delhi. It had closed at Rs 73,700 per 10 grams on Thursday.
Similarly, silver prices rose by Rs 100 to hit a new peak of Rs 86,600 per kg.
"Spot gold prices (24 carats) in the Delhi markets are trading at a record high of Rs 74,100 per 10 grams, up by Rs 400 amid a positive trend in the overseas markets," Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst of Commodities at HDFC Securities, said.
In the overseas markets, spot gold at Comex was trading at USD 2,390 per ounce, up by USD 15 from the previous close.
Gold in the global market surged near a record high in the Asian trading hours on Friday, following reports that Israel had struck targets on Iranian soil, days after Iran had launched an attack on Israel in retaliation for a raid on its consulate in Syria.
This has increased the possibility of a larger regional conflict that would support higher gold prices.
Additionally, silver was quoted higher at USD 28.29 per ounce. In the previous close, it had finished at USD 28.25 per ounce.
According to market analysts, a string of reports, including US inflation data which has remained hotter than forecast this year, have pushed the top US Federal Reserve officials to say recently they could hold interest rates high for a while.
That's a letdown after the Fed earlier had signalled three cuts to interest rates could be possible this year. But Fed officials have been adamant they want to be sure inflation is heading down toward their 2 per cent target before lowering the Fed's main interest rate from its highest level since 2001.

InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of India's top airline IndiGo, and US-based Archer Aviation will launch an all-electric air taxi service in India in 2026, that will carry passengers from Connaught Place in the national capital to Gurugram in Haryana in just 7 minutes.
Archer Aviation will supply 200 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft that can carry four passengers besides a pilot and operate just like helicopters but with lesser noise and better safety.
Besides Delhi, the joint venture between InterGlobe and Archer Aviation will launch similar services in Mumbai and Bengaluru to start with.
The cost of the seven-minute flight operated with the company's five-seater eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft from Connaught Place to Gurugram in Haryana could be around Rs 2,000 to 3,000, according to Archer Aviation executives.
Archer Aviation Founder and CEO Founder &amp; CEO Adam Goldstein on Friday said discussions are going on with the US regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the certification process for its aircraft is at an advanced stage.
The certification is expected next year and once that is in place, the process will be initiated for the certification by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
In an interview with PTI in the national capital, Goldstein said the company expects to start flights in India in 2026 and aims to have 200 of its Midnight planes for the operations.
Initially, Archer Aviation will be focusing on Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. With its flight, the duration will be around 7 minutes from Connaught Place in Delhi to Gurugram and the cost could be Rs 2,000 to 3,000. In a car, for the 27-kilometre distance, it would take around 90 minutes and the cost would be about Rs 1,500, according to Goldstein.
The five-seater Midnight aircraft will be able to accommodate the pilot and four passengers. The plane, which will have six battery packs, will get fully charged in 30-40 minutes and one minute charge broadly translates to one minute of flight, its Chief Commercial Officer Nikhil Goel said.
Archer Aviation will be having a joint venture with InterGlobe Enterprises and the final contours are being worked out.
The US company is also in discussions with various municipalities with respect to infrastructure and other aspects of the flight operations.
Goel said it will use the full strength of InterGlobe, which is a conglomerate, and the joint venture might choose partners for the eVTOL operations in India.
Discussions are also going on with respect to the real estate space required for vertiports or the launchpads and other infrastructure for starting the flight operations.
Archer Aviation will be opening its manufacturing facility in the US this year and initially, it will have a capacity to produce up to 650 planes and the same will be enhanced to 2,000 planes.
To a query on whether the company will be looking at manufacturing the planes in India in the future, Goldstein replied in the affirmative.
Last year, Archer Aviation entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InterGlobe Enterprises, an Indian travel conglomerate and the country's IndiGo is part of it.&nbsp;
